The eighth edition of SAGE Publishing’s big data newsletter includes news about the upcoming launch of a new online course series in data science skills for social scientists. The first course, An Introduction to Python for Social Scientists, is slated to run for the first time in late summer 2017, with registration opening in early August. Other topics being considered are An Introduction to Big Data Research, Social Media Data Analysis, R for Big Data, Machine Learning, and Data Visualization. The newsletter also includes a link to the 50th edition of the renowned Social Science Bites podcast series, with the guest of honor being Harvard’s famous computational political scientist Gary King.
