UK Data Service Census Support is holding a webinar on 24 July 2013 to provide an introduction to the full collection of digital boundaries and geographical lookup tables which they hold.
The webinar will also show how online Census Support applications can be used to access these datasets.
Through UK Data Service Census Support, users have access to a large collection of geographical datasets. This includes digital boundaries that define the location and extent of the output geographies of UK decennial censuses and geographical lookup tables like ONS postcode directories which can be used to relate different geographies to one another.
Over the course of the webinar you will see examples of how:
- Census Support Boundary Data Selector application can be used to search for and download census digital boundary datasets
- Census Support Postcode Data Selector application can be used to make selections from ONS postcode directories and create custom lookups to any geography held within the Census Support digital boundary dataset collection
- Census Support Thematic Mapper application can be used to create shaded choropleth map visualisations of census data
This hour long-long webinar, between 15.00 and 16:00 BST, will have a presentation for the first 30 minutes with a further 30 minutes for questions and answers.
The presenter, James Crone, works for EDINA at the University of Edinburgh, providing service delivery and user support for boundary data as part of UK Data Service Census Support.
