Event Description

DPR9: Trust
Discourse, Power, Resistance Conference
30 March – 1 April 2010 University of Greenwich, UK

____________________________________________

This conference is the 9th in the Discourse, Power, Resistance (DPR) Series. The conference will be of interest to academics, researchers, managers and policy-makers in Education and more broadly in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

DPR9 looks at what happens when trust is lost. We ask why this happens, why it matters and what can be done to recover our trust in ourselves, our colleagues, managers, policy-makers, teachers, learners and educators, health care and social services professionals. We look at trust and distrust in institutions and communities across cultural, social and racial boundaries within education and training institutions, systems, policies and beyond.

The conference also confronts the controversy between qualitative and quantitative research methods, politically fraught and epistemologically contested, threatening to undermine trust in research findings.

For further information, to submit an abstract and find out more about the Call for Papers, please e-mail: dpr@gre.ac.uk

Please note that around 63 abstracts have been successfully submitted so far - there is a limit of just over 90. So, although we are not putting in place a formal deadline for the second call, the opportunity to present at DPR will run out when the 90+ allocation limit has been reached. Colleagues are therefore advised to submit their absract as soon as possible.
