Remix(ed) methods: innovations in methodologies for socio-digital contexts

This forum explores ways to rethink or remix classic or conventional methods to better resonate with contemporary (digital, mediatized) cultural formations.  We use the metaphor of remix to prompt creative, innovation thinking about the everyday practice of social inquiry, and to challenge norms at both the level of practice and product.

I'm running a digital methods seminar in a few weeks time on studying online cultures, texts and platforms. I'm interested in exploring the rise of new web-based social and cultural research tools like issuecrawler but also want to tease out some of the issues or problems that these tools represent for doing digital cultural research. If you have any relevant references and ideas I'd be interested to read them...

What are some of the key aspects of change, and continuity that the social sciences need to address?  In the light of social change, how might social scientists from a range of disciplines look at these aspects?  For example, how can we explore, engage with, and view 'interconnectedness' in our digital infused worlds?  This is a very board question just to get a discussion going
