PhD Conference Call for Abstracts – Generating New Knowledge Through Quantitative Approaches to Social Science

AQMeN 2011PhD Conference will take place at the Business School, University of Edinburgh on 16th May.

 

PhD students in Scotland at all levels of their studies are invited to present a short paper on their research.

 

This is a new and exciting event open to all PhD students in Scotland, studying a social science subject, and using quantitative methods of data analysis in their doctoral research.

The aims of the event are to:

  • Provide students an opportunity to present their work to academics and other PhD students and receive feedback
  • Provide a networking opportunity to establish contacts with other students and researchers who use quantitative methods
  • Identify ways in which doctoral students may contribute to wider social and economic development through contributing to the knowledge base in Scotland

Professor Ian Diamond, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen and former Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council will open the conference with a talk about the role of quantitative research in generating new knowledge
