You must meet my colleague-at-a-distance Merrolee Penman. She's looking at life long learning and self-directed learners, with a mixed methods approach. Another occupational therapy educator is Anita Hamilton who has been looking at online learning and how learners construct the process of inquiry. I'm not sure if they're online here, but I'll find out and let you know. They need to be infected with the CGT bug!
I'm looking at how people who cope well (continue working, self-identify as "well", are not looking for treatments) with chronic pain solve the problem in daily life. Nearly finished the analysis and integrating extant theory so it's finally getting there! I started recruiting people at the time of the Christchurch earthquake - so most people weren't feeling particularly "resilient" and the facilities where I hoped to find this group are still shut (since Feb 2011). It's been a bit of a slog.
