This month’s edition of the big data newsletter includes links to one story in Die Welt asking if artificial intelligence can ever be free of bias and another story from The University Network wondering if we use our smartphones more than we think we do. The newsletter also includes a link to video of the second SAGE Ocean speakers talks, this on one violence, virtual reality and video data presented by Mark Levine, professor of social psychology at the University of Essex. He discusses his experimental research into aggressive and violent events, where he used CCTV footage and ‘immersive virtual environments’ to study perpetrator, victim and bystander behavior.
