Research Readings for Pride Month

by Janet Salmons, Research Community Manager for Methodspace

June is Pride Month, a great time to honor researchers and to gain new understandings of the LGBTQ+ lived experience.

Pride Month seems particularly important in 2022, with new waves of homophobia that put people at physical and emotional risk. For researchers, Pride Month is an opportunity to discover readings that might fit your methods curriculum or help new researchers craft their own studies.

Find a free-to-access collection of research by social and behavioral scientists who are playing a key role in promoting visibility and advancing equity for the LGBTQIA+ community. Here is another collection of open-access articles about gender equity and justice.

SAGE has compiled a set of open-access materials on this page.

SAGE Research Methods, a subscription-based library database, has a social bookmarking feature that allows you to create private or public lists of articles, chapters and e-books, cases and videos. This Reading List contains a number of research cases, which are ideal for use in an instructional setting. These unique cases offer candid first-hand discussions of the whole experience - including ways the researchers dealt with problems and obstacles. Cases include discussion and reflection questions, as well as suggested readings. Cases are an excellent tool for teaching about sensitive topics. Learn more about teaching with research cases with an 8-step process you can adapt for classroom, small-group, or individual learning.

Learn how to create your own lists here. If you do not have access through an academic library, explore SAGE Research Methods with a free trial.
