The American Society for Surgery of the Hand is hosting its 72 annual meeting this September 7-9 in San Francisco, California. The annual meeting aims to improve participants scientific knowledge of upper extremity surgery professional practices and patient care.

The preeminent mission of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) is to provide state-of-the-art continuing medical education in the field of hand and upper extremity surgery. The ASSH is dedicated to fulfillment of this mission through the following means:

  • Offering excellent educational programming enabling hand care professionals to provide superior medical care for the hand and upper extremity.
  • Enhancing the dissemination of current research knowledge ensuring that hand care professionals have timely and relevant information available.

 

In order to better accomplish and achieve the goals outlined by the annual meeting, the meeting will engage hand surgeons , hand therapists, other physicians interested in specific problems related to hand and upper extremity surgery and scientists through the following learning modalities:

  • Didactic Presentations and Seminars
  • Symposia and Workshops
  • Teleconferences and Webcasting
  • Enduring Materials
  • Self-Assessment Program

Each learning mode will be presented or taught by distinguished speakers, scientists, surgeons, or professionals of the field and will also have time for questions and demonstrations.

  • David M. Lichtman, MD – Kienbock’s Disease: Evolution of a Treatment Algorithm
  • Andrew W. Gurman, MD – The AMA: Advancing Medicine in the Digital Age

It is expected that by the end of the conference that hand surgeons and other health care professionals with educational programs, improve their current clinical knowledge and enhance patient care by improving competence performance or patient outcomes. On top of that participants are expected to
