The International Sociological Association Research Committee RC33 on Logic and Methodology was established in 1973 with the goals of developing professional contacts between sociologists interested in logic and methodology in sociology, encouraging the worldwide exchange of research findings and theoretical developments; and promoting international meetings and research collaboration in the field of logic and methodology in sociology. In that vein, RC33 organised the first International Conference on Social Science Methodology in Amsterdam in 1984, and has held the even every four years since.
