The National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS) is again offering its popular R & Spark 2-day course! R & SPARK: TOOLS FOR DATA SCIENCE WORKFLOWS will be held May 30-31, 2018 at 9am EST at the Bureau of Labor Statistics Conference and Training Center.

the course will be taught by E. James Harner, a Professor Emeritus of Statistics at West Virginia University. He was the Chair of the Department of Statistics for 17 years and the Director of the Cancer Center Bioinformatics Core.

The course covers the initial steps in the data science process:
•extracting data from source systems
•transforming data into a tidy form
•loading data into distributed file systems, distributed data warehouses, and NoSQL databases, i.e., ETL.

Things to know for this course that are helpful are, differential calculus, basic matrix algebra, a statistics course covering regression, and basic R. Special rates for students. Students must bring their own laptops.

The cost for the two day course is: $760 for employees of NISS Affiliates and for students. $990 for non-NISS Affiliates. To register click HERE.
