I’m hoping the community can point me in the direction of resources or provide advice on best practices for creating a composite of multiple sub-scales, so that one composite score can be used in explanatory models. I am developing a scale that currently consists of 5 subscales / factors identified through exploratory factor analysis. The factors are not independent of each other, but the are sufficiently distinct such that the construct I’m trying to measure is not unidimensional. Ultimately, I hope that the process for developing the composite score is user-friendly and can easily be shared with other researchers.
