Quick question: I am using adults who have emerged from generational poverty as the subject of my dissertation. However, I am stuck on finding anything in the literature that would provide a concrete timeframe for being considered ‘fully emerged’ from poverty. (My initial thought of five years is being labeled arbitrary– and I am forced to admit that it is). So, any suggestions where to look for similar social phenomena? I need to nail down, via the literature, how many years constitutes full emergence from something or represents a concrete change in an individual. Ideas??

    Thanks!
