On page 26 of the third edition of discovering statistic using spss, it is explained how to calculate the z-scores. However, the formula features the standard deviation and there is no reference to the page where it is explained how to calculate a z-score.
As a solution, I think it would be pleasant if there was an appendix with all mathematical formulas that are used in the book, so that you can easily look them up if you want to know them. Or is there one, and did I overlook this? Or is there one in a following edition?
