I was wondering if anyone in the community has an experience of using open access journals and can recommend any good ones related to Research Methods. Or is it that the phenomenon is too new and untested?

You certainly could start by checking out FQS the online qualitative journal. The Editors are very much involved at the forefront of the open access movement.

Just to add that FQS is a great source of articles for exploring a wealth of perspectives and I recommend it to postgraduate students.

Vera, thanks for the reply. But any reasons why to postgraduate students?

I published in Implementation Science http://www.implementationscience.com/info/about/pdf-leaflet/10099.pdf
last year, and think this open access journal provides an excellent venue for papers using a wide variety of methods. The process was transparent, and constructive. Open access has many advantages, most notably wide dissemination of your work.
