I am looking for scholarly articles documenting why open thought listing is a reasonable method to gather data. I have found many articles (especially in social psychology and communication) that use open thought listing but not many that can provide the theoretical rationale for why it is a reputable method. Does anyone have a reference? Even if you only remember a name or part of a title, that would help. Thank you.
