I am about to conduct a survey containing 54 multiple choice questions and think
the online survey format would be best, however, this is completely new to
me….any recommendations on the best software to use with regard to both user
friendliness and cost? (should be free). Also, it would be preferable if the
questionnaire is linked to a database for easy management of survey responses.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

    PS
So far, I have had recommendations to use survey monkey and redcap. Does anyone know of the
advantages and disadvantages of these two packages. Any other suggestions? Once
again, I’m looking for the easiest package to use and would prefer it if the
software was linked to a database (perhaps they all have databases…I know very
little about this topic 🙂 ).  Any responses to any of these issues would be much appreciated.

It is difficult to tell what the “best” software is because the best software is one matching the researcher’s criteria. I once used SurveyMonkey and was quite satisfied. If you want some options, you can check this webpage:

If you need something that has branching logic (which I’m not sure you can do with the basic survey monkey survey??) then you might want to try Check Box. http://www.checkbox.com/
