This might be an odd question, but I hope someone can help. When doing exploratory research, where very little scholarly work is available, one has to rely on whatever material is available i.e. you use whatever you can get your hands on to start mapping out the research area. There is a specific research term for this technique, which – for the life of me – I cannot remember. Is anyone able to assist? It is often expressed as: ‘The researcher goes about the task _________’ [insert adverb].
Thanks
