Santander Universities offers annually two awards of 1000 euros, one in Portugal and another abroad, to the best doctoral research design created with the Idea Puzzle® software in a licensed university. The jury consists of Ana Costa Freitas, Rector of University of Évora (President of the jury), Inês Oom de Sousa, Executive Board Member of Santander Totta, Alexandra Bitusikova, Senior Adviser of EUA-Council for Doctoral Education, and Ricardo Morais, founder of Idea Puzzle. The award ceremony will take place in November in Lisbon.
In 2017, the award was given in Portugal to Sara Soares supervised by Silvia Fraga in the Doctoral Programme in Public Health at the University of Oporto, with the research design “Biological consequences of exposure to social adversity in childhood”. Abroad, the award was given to Leonardo La Rosa supervised by Teresa Sandoval in the Doctoral Programme in Research in Media at the University Carlos III de Madrid, with the research design “Data journalism in Spain”.
