Yes , in mixed methods rational I think it is approached because I used this tool for both measurement and the combination in this design involves connecting the quantitative data analysis with the qualitative data collection procedure which means( squential explanatory design mixed method model) is that right?
Sorry I meant in terms of rationale for mixing methods
Not sure, but I think my tool is more medical rather than general is used to assess pain in human especially in children is all pictures presenting pain incidence.
Not sure are approaches are that different. I use a survey based measurement tool to assess the effectiveness of training (within healthcare systems) combined with focus groups to gather corroborative data, along with explanations of how the learning is enacted in the workplace. Methods are grounded in a single conceptual model.
Thanks Richard for your responses, my subject area is Peadiatric Nursing. I think it is quite diffrent from yours.
I used mixed method in order to determine how primary school age children with English as an additional language communicate pain, I did approach the data qualitatively through focus group interview with 2 groups of children whose English a[Read more]
I use mixed methods to evaluate workplace learning. What is your research focus? I am particularly interested in philisophical foundations (I’m influenced by pragmatism) and mixing within paradigms (eg focus groups and interviews) so any insights greatly appreciated!
I am happy to share some idea of mixed method designe with you, as I used mixed method approach in my firsy phase of my PhD thesis. It will be a great time for me.
