Learn about Mixed and Multimethods in May!
The MethodSpace focus in May will be on Mixed Methods and Multimethods. We will look at ways to design, conduct, and interpret research that uses multiple methods within and across qualitative and quantitative paradigms. The term mixed methods refers to studies that use both quantitative and qualitative methods to collect and analyze data. The term multimethods, or multimodal, refers to studies that use multiple methods within the same paradigm. For example, a multimethod qualitative study might use both interviews and narratives, or a multimethod quantitative study might use Big Data datasets and a survey to collect data.
We are excited to welcome Michael Fetters as our May Mentor in Residence. Dr. Fetters is the author of The Mixed Methods Research Workbook, and the editor of the SAGE Journal of Mixed Methods Research, an interdisciplinary, international publication.
